Support Women In The New Year!

Maine Women's Fund

As you sort through an inbox full of requests from many worthwhile organizations, we are asking you to make the Maine Women's Fund a philanthropic priority. By investing in the power of women and the dreams of girls you will strengthen the economic security of your community and all of Maine.

A recent NYT article made the case that: "...focusing on women and girls is the most effective way to fight... poverty." It is this principle of social change - when women thrive, communities prosper - that guides the strategic direction of the Fund. Through your support, you will create systemic change.
You will fund Maine non-profits that support women and girls. In 2008-09, we granted nearly $80,000 to non-profit organizations committed to working in four strategic areas that together will build economic security for women and girls: public policy, education, entrepreneurship and better jobs and wages, and financial literacy and asset building.

You will support leadership programs, like the New Girls' Network, Regional Advisory Councils, Women's Leadership Series discussions, and Women Standing Together. In 2008-09 we invested $60,000 in these programs which provide resources, community, skills and experience that enable women across Maine to tap fully into their leadership potential in service to others and themselves.
You will be part of a community of people who know that by combining our resources we are a more effective catalyst for change than we can be alone.
