Join us for a special evening at New York Life Insurance Company to learn about its use of executive coaching and how it is helping to change the organization. New York Life Insurance Company's new CEO implemented an extensive executive coaching program about 2 years ago to both build a culture of distributed, proactive leadership as well as improve the organization's bench strength. More than 100 executive officers have already been part of 6-month coaching engagements, including 360-degree feedback. This presentation describes the challenges involved in creating a dual-purpose programmatic coaching intervention, the challenges of managing a complex internal/external panel of coaches, and the approach used to evaluate the impact of the program. Hidden Ingredients of Successful Executive Coaching & Real Behavior Change Tuesday, June 14, 2011
For our last meeting of the 2010-2011 season, Dr. Davis will focus on the art and science of executive coaching, drawing on her work, writing and experience working with senior executives across wide-ranging industries. Psychology informs and drives the processes and results of coaching more than books and articles about popular coaching acknowledge. The session will focus on lessons learned, case examples and tips or tools for ongoing coaching effectiveness. Dr. Sandra Davis is CEO of MDA Leadership Consulting in Minneapolis, a leadership development, talent assessment and organizational performance firm she co-founded in 1981. Davis specializes in senior executive talent evaluation, CEO selection, and succession planning and is widely known as an executive coach and thought leader in the leadership development industry, counting numerous Fortune 500 firms among her clients. Employee Engagement Seen Through the Lens of the Employee Value Proposition Thursday, October 13, 2011
In his presentation, Dr. Bill Macey will build on the engagement model outlined in his published work and speak to how employee preferences shape work environment perceptions and employee engagement. In this context, He will further speak to differences between national cultures in employee engagement survey results and how related differences in preferred working environments accounts for some of those differences. Implications for the employment brand and recruitment strategies will be discussed. A significant part of his presentation will focus on the distinction between traditional variable-centric approaches to I/O research and the emerging use of person-centric approaches to understanding unique sub-populations or segments. Mindful Leadership: Focusing for Performance Tuesday, November 08, 2011
Please join us for the second meeting of the 2011-2012 METRO season. Our speaker for this event will be Dr. Joshua Ehrlich, an organizational consultant, executive coach, supervisor and accreditor of coaches. All of us are running faster as technology and the pace of business shred our attention. We need to take back control by learning to stop, reflect and focus. Focusing attention mindfully is an especially critical skill for leaders and their teams. Being present and dealing with information overload is essential for leaders to develop strategy and drive execution. The discipline of mindfulness has an immediate impact on performance and accelerates learning. Dr. Ehrlich will provide a roadmap of how and where to focus in order to learn critical leadership skills, and describe how reflection, focus and mindfulness can be powerful tools for individual and organizational effectiveness. The Science of Meetings Wednesday, December 14, 2011
In this session Dr. Rogelberg will share, in an assessable way, 6 years of research he has conducted on the science of meetings much of which has been discussed in the Wall Street Journal, NPR, CBS News, and even National Geographic magazine. Five studies will be discussed and integrated covering topics such as: 1) Time in meetings and its linkage to employee stress, and burnout; 2) Lateness to meetings; Meetings and job satisfaction; and 4) Meeting leadership and employee engagement Meetings are a huge investment for organizations and the groups that comprise them. This session closes by exploring the costs associated with unnecessary and/or poorly facilitated meetings and proposes a three-stage model that organizations may use to assure that the time invested in meetings is more likely to deliver a return on the resources invested.
