Acadiana Society for Human Resources Management (ASHRM) Receives Distinguished Award
The Society for Human Resource Management has awarded ASHRM, the EXCEL Gold Award for 2010. This recognition is a distinct indication of the chapter’s successful partnership with SHRM to serve the networking and professional development needs of human resource professionals and to the advancement of the human resources profession” noted Pamela J. Green, SPHR, Chief U.S. Membership Officer for SHRM.
ASHRM was awarded “the gold” because of the successful initiatives implemented by the chapter this past year, which include:
· Increased SHRM (national) membership from 131 to 157 members for an increase of 20% through enhanced communications.
· Increased monthly meeting attendance; sponsored the annual seminar with 275 in attendance.
·Initiated “Coffee Talk”, a monthly informal gathering to discuss legal and regulatory updates – facilitated by our Legal & Legislative Affairs Board Member, a local attorney
·Facilitated a certification study group, which is led by several Board members with a high rate of success
·Sponsored a Workforce Readiness Event in conjunction with LEDA and Lafayette Regional Business Advisory Committee
·Co-hosted a Job Fair with LA Rehabilitation services for persons with disabilities
·Established a ULL HR Scholarship with twice yearly scholarships awarded
ASHRM receives a Certificate of Recognition, a specialized banner to display at its meetings and events, and is being recognized in SHRM’s publications and at its conferences. Thanks to our past president, Brent Hebert, for his leadership of our chapter during the implementation of these important initiatives.
