Job Description
The Plant Controller will be responsible for managing the accounting and IT functions including financial reporting, cost accounting, cost analysis, and IT network administration. Working as a key strategic partner with the Plant Manager, the Plant Controller will develop an intimate knowledge of the business operations and help provide financial leadership to the organization. This person must have the desire and proven ability to take initiative, possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills, be detail oriented and able to multi-task. This position is for someone who seeks challenging projects, and is looking for an opportunity to grow with a dynamic and successful company. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: -Provide strong financial leadership by leading with a “hands on” management style and problem solving skills. -Work with Plant Manager to establish and implement strategic goals and key performance indicators (KPI). -Understand the business operations and needs and provide leadership in the implementation of business processes and business control functions to contribute productivity and profitability enhancements to the Company. Ensure all procedures, policies, and business processes are executed properly, on time, consistently, and in compliance with appropriate standards. -Responsible for managing activities of cost accountant and IT network administrator. -Work closely with personnel to insure the forecasted project cost reports accurately reflect the expected direct labor hours, material costs, and project progress. -Prepare the annual budget and financial plan for the New Iberia operation, anticipating and supporting current business needs, as well as potential and future organic growth. -Prepare the annual capital expenditure plan for the New Iberia operations. -Responsible for review and proper application of Louisiana sales and use tax regulations and available economic tax incentive credits. -Ensure plans, budgets, and financial reporting is completed accurately and on a timely basis. Ensure that the cost structure is consistent with revenue levels and profitability goals. -Utilize financial information to identify potential cost and productivity focal points. -Play a key role in the improvement of financial processes and reporting. -Provide leadership to accounting and IT personnel; mentor and develop employees for future growth requirements. -Ensure compliance with company policies and SOX guidelines. -Direct audit activities for New Iberia operations as required. -Perform other duties as assigned. Experience, Education & Skills: -Degree in accounting or finance is required. MBA or CPA certification would be ideal but not mandatory. -Over 10 years of related experience in a fabrication environment is required. -Strong cost accounting and analytical experience in a job cost and/or percentage of completion environment. -Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, and have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and meet reporting deadlines. -Demonstrated leadership experience in working on a management team to develop and execute strategic business goals and objectives. -Effective oral and written communication skills and able to build relationships within the organization. -Ability to solve practical problems in a timely manner while dealing with a level of ambiguity. -Proficient in MS Office, including extensive Excel knowledge. Experience with ERP Systems/JD Edwards (E1) is a plus.
