Senator Trent Lott, former Senate Majority Leader
Senator Trent Lott, the famed former Majority Leader of the U.S. Senate, served in the Congress for 35 years. Seven Presidents have known both his cooperation and his opposition. In 1996 he became the Senate's 16th Majority Leader and that same year enacted his historic welfare reform bill. In 2006, Senator Lott was elected Senate Republican Whip for the second time in his career. He is the only member of Congress to hold this position in both the House and Senate. Senator Lott is know for his ability to connect with the public and getting things done. He has been a fixture on television for years. Few know and understand the workings of the U.S. government better than Senator Lott.
