Governor Jesse Ventura
Jesse Ventura is the former professional wrestler who served as the governor of Minnesota from 1999 to 2003. After graduating from high school in 1969, Governor Ventura enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was accepted into the elite Navy SEALs program. In 1970, Governor Ventura completed the SEALs training program and was sent to Vietnam. During his service in Vietnam, he made over 100 parachute jumps as well as many deep-sea dives. He was honorably discharged in 1973 and settled in California, where he joined a motorcycle gang and worked as a bodyguard for the Rolling Stones. He wrestled professionally from 1975 to 1984, usually playing a villain and using the name Jesse "The Body" Ventura. He then became an movie actor starring with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the film Predator and other movies before running for governor of Minnesota on the Reform Party ticket in 1998. 6'4" tall, muscular and bald, Ventura carried his wrestling image as a blunt-talking tough guy into the political arena and became a national political figure as well as pop culture celebrity.
