Position Title: Human Resources: Human Resources Business Partner Department: 6400|Human Resources
Summary/Objective The HR Business Partner position is responsible for aligning University objectives with employees and management in designated operating units. The HR Business Partner serves as a consultant to management on human resources-related issues. The successful HR Business Partner will act as an employee champion and change agent. The HR Business Partner assesses and anticipates HR-related needs. Communicating needs proactively with our HR department and University management, the HR Business Partner seeks to develop integrated solutions and formulates partnerships across the HR function and University to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflect the objectives of the organization. The HR Business Partner maintains an effective level of business literacy about the University’s financial position, its mid-range plans, its culture and its competition.

Acts as an internal consultant by analyzing and recommending solutions to human resource issues relating to the assigned division or functional area. Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations. Advises management on the administration of human resources programs, plans, and policies. Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention. Answers non-routine requests for information on policy interpretation. Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies. Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions). Develops, revises and implements human resource policies and procedures. Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning. Presents training sessions related to the assigned program or section area. Prepares and maintains special internal and external reports as requested by his or her immediate supervisor. Attends periodic meetings with respective operating units. Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development sessions or seminars. Works on special projects. Attends meetings, conferences and seminars.
