Job Description
Waitr is seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to join our team. This position is located in Lafayette, LA and reports to the Compensation, Benefits & HRIS Director. The Senior Payroll Specialist serves as a subject matter expert and is responsible all day-to-day payroll processes as well as supporting employee data management activities in HRIS systems. This position will continue to identify gaps in audit reporting and promote efficient operational processes while adhering to regulatory guidelines.
The ideal candidate would have experience with HRIS and with Computershare.
Primary Responsibilities
Payroll Administration:
•Responsible for the day-to-day operations of payroll administration (high volume payroll processing (7,000+ employees) for multi-state payroll).
•Provide direction and guidance to the Payroll Specialist.
•Maintain payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
•Respond to questions from employees and department managers regarding payroll, benefits, etc.
•Assist with research and administration of salary review process.
•Perform regular audits of payroll information for accuracy and oversee annual audit cycle for payroll process.
•Audit new hire documents, files and information in all HRIS systems.
•Analyzes, investigates, trouble shoots and resolves payroll data errors; inspects system output and standard reports.
•Create, update and maintain employee payroll records to ensure accuracy of data.
•Perform actions necessary to track and determine regular and overtime pay, and factors commission-based income or bonuses into an employee's salary.

Payroll Reporting:
•Comply with federal, multi-state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; ensuring rules and regulations are followed and advising management on needed actions.
•Calculate and process Federal and State tax and social security withholdings, other deductions, insurance, benefits, 401(k) contributions and company match.
•Process government agency requests for information and garnishments.
•Prepare quarterly and year-end reports including 940, 941 and applicable state reports.
•Compile distribute W-2’s and 1099’s and submit information to IRS and the appropriate states’ agencies on an annual basis.
•Review and verify paperwork and documentation as needed for State Unemployment Taxing Agency (SUTA) audits

•Partner closely with other members of HR Team.
•Oversee, answer and resolve employee questions and/or problems regarding payroll.
•Communicate with managers regarding payroll errors, time changes after payroll cutoff, and/or holiday time reminders.
•Coordinate with Benefits Specialist to reconcile insurance invoices (Health, Dental, Vision, etc.) to actual payroll deductions at least quarterly.


•Bachelor's Degree with Accounting, Finance or Business Related; or Equivalent Work Experience field of study required.
•8-10 years’ experience processing multi-state weekly/bi weekly payroll
•Large Volume processing 1000+ employees’ payroll
•Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations
•Working knowledge of HRIS and Computershare preferred
•Strong work ethic and team player
•Ability to communicate sensitive and confidential information.
•Strong verbal and written communication skills.
•Ability to communicate with various levels of management.
•Decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills
