Senior Benefits Analyst PHI, Inc. Type: Full-Time Posted: 1/9/2018
The Sr. Benefits Analyst will apply strong analytical skills and knowledge of health, welfare and retirement plans to assist with plan and program design, plan performance and financial impacts. This position works closely with payroll and finance to manage costs, develop and deliver employee communications, assist with policy, process and procedure development and vendor management. Maintains a high degree of discretion and confidentiality around employee information at all times.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES: • Engages in analysis, evaluation, design, development and implementation of plan modifications and enhancements, including participation in obtaining senior leadership approval and presentation to plan sponsors • Recommends employee benefit practices by benchmarking best practices; researching industry and employment trends; tracking legislation and estimating impact. • Researches employee benefit interests by conducting employee surveys; forming focus groups; analyzing responses and data. • Recommends employee benefit programs by examining and evaluating employee interests, costs, regulatory requirements, and competitive advantage. • In partnership with the Broker, evaluates employee benefit contracts by studying provisions; estimating impact and ensuring compliance. • Conducts employee meetings; prepares announcements and explanations and responds to employee requests. • Manages validation and reconciliation initiatives with payroll and accounting, including integration of data lists, assessment of data for eligibility; reconciliation and payment of benefit invoices. • Ensure vendors and third party administrators are meeting expectations and service level agreements through facilitation of regular meetings. • Continuous analysis of internal processes to ensure efficiency, reduce costs and enhance the employee experience related to all areas of benefits. • Participates in facilitation of requests for proposals, vendor evaluation and selection and project manage plan/program implementation. • Responsible for ensuring accurate COBRA administration. • Assist with internal and external audits, providing appropriate samples and documentation. • Collaborates with Auditors in providing data for annual plan non-discrimination testing, filing various compliance reports such as Affordable Care Act 1095 reporting, Department of Labor 5500 reporting, and Medicare Data Match reporting. Investigates discrepancies and researches complex, technical questions and problems. • Oversees maintenance for the benefits enrollment platform, conducting new plan code testing and open enrollment auditing. • Coordinates between vendors to trouble shoot and resolve issues as required. • Maintains a clear understanding of the integration with payroll systems, including deductions and file feeds to vendors. • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations. • Maintains employee confidence by keeping benefit information confidential. • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS: BS Degree in Business Administration or related field Minimum of 7 years in Benefits Plan Administration required; 10+ years preferred CEBS certificate preferred, but not required Strong Customer Service skills Excellent organizational, communication, both written and verbal Proficient in MS Office Suite Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team
