We're in Hong Kong!
Ansley in the hotel windowWe arrived on 5/4 at around 6 am.  We had a great flight and got a good bit of sleep so we felt pretty good once we got off the plane.  It took us a little while to figure out how to get out of the airport and to the hotel.  We took a train and then a bus and made it to the hotel around 8:30 am.   We got very lucky and they had our room ready so we were able to go up and rest, unpack a little and most importantly, take a hot shower.  We were feeling pretty yucky after being on the plane for so long.

Peak Tram

We called the Knebusch's at their hotel and met up with them at 11:30 am at the ferry dock across the harbor.  We took the Star ferry to get across the harbor.  It's a very quick ride.  Then we took a bus from the ferry to The Peak Tram.  The tram takes you to the top of Victoria peak.  It's a very steep ride.  The photos don't really tell the whole story.  You'll have to see the video to get the full effect.  Going up wasn't too bad but coming down was a little scary.  We also ate lunch up there.

Stanley marketThen we took an open air bus ride through Hong Kong.  That was cool!  You really got to experience all the sights and sounds of the big city.  From there we took another bus to The Stanley Market, which is about 30 minutes from downtown Hong Kong.  It was a neat market.  They had some great kids clothes and some neat furniture, paintings, calligraphy, etc.

We even saw a bride and groom having some wedding pictures made.  The bride was beautiful!   Around 3:00 pm at the Stanley market we starting feeling the jet lag...bad! We were troopers and hung in there because we were having a great time but were glad when we started heading back to the hotel around 4:00 pm or so.  It took a while to get back to the hotel (a bus ride, a ride on the MTR (subway), and a taxi ride) but we finally arrived back around 5:00 pm.  We ordered room service and all of us were asleep by 6:30 pm.  I haven't felt that tired in a long time.  We were all in a daze.

Wedding photos in Stanley marketIt was cloudy and hazy here yesterday so we didn't get a good view of Hong Kong from Victoria Peak.  It rained a little bit last night after we got back to the hotel.   It is cloudy today and looks like it might rain.  I hope not though.  We just finished breakfast and are going to DisneyLand today.  The girls (Ansley & Emma) don't know we are going.  They are going to be so excited!  Poor Susie Knebusch has a 102 fever today and isn't going to be able to go.  I hope she feels better soon.

Ansley has been a great traveler!  We are very proud of her.  She's having fun and is excited about seeing Emma today.  Emma didn't go with us yesterday.  She stayed back at the hotel with her grandparents and had a fun day at the pool.Flowers in Stanley market

Hong Kong is a very diverse, cosmopolitan, busy city.  Pedestrians don't have the right of we keep a very close eye on Ansley and make her hold someone's hand wherever we go.  We were too polite yesterday morning and got shoved here and there in the crowds and have learned our lesson.  Now we push our way through also.  If you don't you just get run over.  Hong Kong is a cool city.  I wish we had more time to enjoy it.  I think there is a festival going on today that would be neat to go to but I don't know that we'll have time.  Hopefully we won't be quite as tired tonight and we can go out and explore some.

I've got to run.  We have to go catch a bus to meet the Knebusch's and head to DisneyLand. I'll try to write more tonight.
